Lapland

Lapland is a beautiful place - I have been there twice. The temperature both times was around -20 give or take 5 or so! I saw the Northern Lights on both occasions, once from the middle of a frozen lake 25 miles into the wilderness.  I met Sami communities with their herds of reindeer, stayed in their wooden tents and ate with them (including hot reindeer soup!). Husky sledding was huge fun, and having seen how the huskies work, I'm not sure I approve of them as pets any more. A night in the extraordinary Ice Hotel was definitely one of the most surreal nights I've ever spent.
